WPL Auction 2024: India’s all-rounder Kashvi Gautam became the most expensive uncapped player in the WPL 2024 auction on Saturday. Gujarat Giants, RCSB, and UP Warriors placed substantial bids for the player, but in the end, Gujarat Giants succeeded in acquiring the player for ₹2 crores. In the auction for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024, Australia’s Annabel Sutherland has been the most expensive foreign player so far. After a bidding war against Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals secured Sutherland for ₹2 crores, as Gujarat Titans have the maximum slots to fill in the WPL 2024 auction.

In the WPL Auction 2024, representatives of the 5 teams – Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, and UP Warriors, displayed some intense bidding.

Indian batter Vrinda Dinesh also showcased a brilliant performance in the auction as several teams showed interest in the players. Eventually, she was sold to UP Warriors for ₹1.3 crores. Gujarat Titans, with the maximum slots to fill, also chose another high-value player Phoebe Litchfield for ₹1 crore, who joined the franchise.

South African fast bowler Shabnim Ismail also attracted considerable interest from franchises, with Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians actively competing for the player. The player eventually went to the defending champions Mumbai Indians for ₹1.2 crores.

Kashvi Gautam’s Comeback:

Last year, during the WPL auction, fast bowler Kashvi Gautam remained unsold. The young player did not let this setback affect her game, worked on her pace, and sought continuous feedback from team scouts. Although her performance in domestic cricket indicates consistency, she made a mark this year in the Women’s T20 Trophy, maintaining an impressive economy rate of 4.14 and taking 12 wickets in seven matches
