IMD forecasts thunderstorm activity with hailstorm and heavy rainfall over Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and south Rajasthan on 26th – 27th November.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted moderate to heavy rainfall in Maharashtra, including Mumbai, on Sunday (November 26th). According to IMD’s daily weather forecast, rainfall ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.6 mm is expected in central Maharashtra.

There is also a possibility of hail along with heavy rain in central Maharashtra on November 26th. The general public is advised to exercise caution regarding the weather and avoid going to waterlogged areas, muddy roads, and crowded places.

In addition, the weather monitoring agency has forecasted similar rain for Marathwada, as well as eastern and western Rajasthan.

The weather department stated that there is a possibility of thunderstorms and heavy rain with hail in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and southern Rajasthan from November 26th to 27th.

In Tamil Nadu, heavy rain has been reported in several districts in recent days. The Regional Meteorological Department in Chennai has issued a warning of light to moderate rain in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry until November 26th. The weather director further mentioned that heavy rain has occurred in many parts of the state in the last 24 hours.

IMD has issued a warning for rain in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry for the next 3 hours around November 26th.

Around November 26th, a low-pressure area is likely to form in the South Andaman Sea and the surrounding areas, moving west-northwest, potentially intensifying into a depression over the Bay of Bengal on November 27th. Subsequently, it may turn into a pressure system over the southeast Bay of Bengal, resulting in rainfall. Deputy Director S. Balachandran mentioned that due to the rain, officials have declared holidays in schools in the districts of Chennai, Chengalpattu, Thiruvallur, and Kanchipuram.

In Himachal Pradesh, the weather department has forecasted light to moderate rain and snowfall in the higher reaches of the mountainous state on November 26th and 27th.

IMD has predicted snowfall in the high-altitude areas of Chamba, Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu, Kangra, and Shimla districts of Himachal Pradesh from November 26th to 27th. Meanwhile, Sirmaur, Solan, Mandi, and lower areas of Kangra may experience light rain. The snowfall is expected to decrease from November 28th to 29th, and the weather will clear up, according to IMD.
