As per the report by the National Center for Seismology (NCS), a 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck the Pithoragarh district in Uttarakhand on Monday. Thankfully, there were no casualties or significant damage to life and property.

The epicenter of the earthquake was in Nepal. The disaster management office informed the news agency that the earthquake occurred at 4:17 PM in the areas of Dharchula, Didihat, and Bangapani in the Pithoragarh district.

Before this, there was a 5.2 magnitude earthquake in Nepal at 4:16 PM today. The tremors were also felt in Delhi. The country has been dealing with aftershocks since the 6.9 magnitude earthquake hit the region last Friday.

Earlier, on October 15, there were strong tremors felt in Delhi-NCR, and similar tremors were experienced on October 3.

Following the powerful earthquake faced on Saturday, aftershocks continued in Nepal for the next two days. Within a week, the country faced another major earthquake on Monday.

In Nepal, approximately 157 people have lost their lives, and more than 160 individuals have been injured. There are reports of significant property damage in various parts of the country. The last time Nepal faced an earthquake of such magnitude was in 2015, causing widespread destruction in the Himalayan nation.

The earthquake-affected Nepal received the first tranche of emergency relief materials worth ₹10 crore from India on Sunday. The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu stated in a release that the relief materials reached Nepal via a special C-130 aircraft of the Indian Air Force in Nepalgunj.

Officials mentioned that the consignment includes tents, blankets, tarpaulin sheets, essential medicines, and medical equipment.
