According to a statement from the company, Sahara Group’s founder, Subrata Roy, passed away on Tuesday in a private hospital in Mumbai due to cardiorespiratory arrest after a prolonged illness. He was 75 years old.

The company stated that after a deterioration in Roy’s health, he was admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute in Mumbai on Sunday.

The statement mentioned, “After a prolonged struggle with metastatic lethality, high blood pressure, and diabetes-related complications, Subrata Roy passed away in the hospital on Tuesday night at 10:30 due to cardiorespiratory arrest.”

The statement expressed deep sorrow, stating, “It is with profound grief that the Sahara India family announces the demise of our respected ‘Saharasri’ Subrata Roy Sahara, the inspiration, administrator, and chairman of the Sahara India family.”

Describing him as an “inspirational leader and visionary,” the company said, “His loss will be deeply felt by the entire Sahara India family. Saharasri Ji was a guiding force, a mentor, and a source of inspiration for all, and it was our privilege to work with him.”

The statement further asserted that the Sahara India family is committed to preserving Roy’s legacy and will continue to honor his vision in advancing the organization.
