Renowned South Indian actor and musician, R. Subbulakshmi, known for her memorable role as a grandmother in several films, passed away on Thursday due to age-related illnesses. She was 87.
Subbulakshmi, the mother of famous actor and dancer Thara Kalyan, gained prominence with her role in Dilip-starrer Kalyanaraman. She also acted in various Tamil films, including the Vijay-starrer Beast.
Her professional career began in 1951 with All India Radio. Some of her popular films include CID Moosa, Sound Thoma, Nandanam, Van, and Rani Padmini. In addition to Malayalam and Tamil cinema, she also showcased her acting skills in Kannada and Telugu films.
