Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh is gearing up for the Deepotsav event, where 24 lakh diyas will be illuminated at 51 ghats, in another attempt to create a Guiness World Record.
The team from the Guinness Book has awarded Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath a certificate for a new record. During Diwali 2023, more than 22 lakh lamps were lit on the banks of the Sarayu River.
The Chief Minister congratulated the volunteers for setting the record and conveyed a message of unity. Ayodhya Deepotsav 2023 is being celebrated grandly, with a new record being set by lighting 21 lakh lamps on Lord Rama’s pathway. Additionally, 7 lakh lamps will be lit at other locations, creating a new world record.
Since Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government took office in 2017, Ayodhya has celebrated Deepotsav every year during Diwali. This year’s preparations are also elaborate, with dignitaries like Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, Brajesh Pathak, Tourism Minister Jayveer Singh, and other Cabinet members participating. Over 50 political representatives from various countries will also witness this historic event.
On the eve of Diwali, Ayodhya, the temple city of Uttar Pradesh, aims to set a new Guinness World Record by lighting 24 lakh lamps on 51 ghats during the Deepotsav program.
The program, starting at 3 p.m., will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Around 25,000 volunteers will light 24 lakh lamps. The Guinness Book of World Records team will be present to count the lamps using drone cameras.
The security preparations for Ayodhya’s Deepotsav involve dividing the area into 14 police zones, with the help of artificial intelligence for crowd and traffic control, as stated by Inspector General of Police Praveen Kumar.
Following Deepotsav, a spectacular laser show will be organized.
Last year, more than 20,000 volunteers in Ayodhya lit over 15 lakh lamps on the banks of the Sarayu River, setting a new Guinness World Record.
