Fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim reportedly hospitalised in Karachi, Pakistan, possibly due to poisoning
The alleged runaway underworld don Dawood Ibrahim has reportedly been admitted to a hospital in Karachi, Pakistan. There are speculations that he was taken to the hospital due to poisoning. However, Pakistan has not officially confirmed this yet.
Several reports suggest that Dawood Ibrahim is being kept under tight security within the hospital premises.
The mastermind behind the 1993 Mumbai bombings and India’s most wanted, Dawood Ibrahim, has been residing in Pakistan for decades. Over 250 people were killed, and thousands were injured in the destructive bomb explosions.
Indian officials often claim that Ibrahim resides in the posh Clifton area of Karachi. However, Pakistan has consistently denied his presence in their country.
In January 2023, his nephew informed the national investigative agency that Dawood has remarried in Pakistan and is living in Karachi with his family.
Dawood Ibrahim’s second wife is a Pakistani Pathan named Mizaabeen. According to Dawood’s sister Haseena Parkar’s son Alishah Parkar, Dawood has three daughters—Marukh (married to Javed Miandad’s son Junaid), Mehreen (married), and Majia (unmarried)—and a son, Mohin Nawaz (married). This statement was part of an FIR filed by the NIA in November of the previous year.
The investigative agency also claims that D-Company, led by Dawood Ibrahim, has established a special unit to spread terror among the people of India by attacking prominent personalities, including politicians and businessmen.
Referring to the 10th edition of the Global Terrorism Index (GTI), the report mentions that Dawood Ibrahim and his D-Company still control various criminal activities in Mumbai, involving drug trafficking, arms dealing, and extortion. The report also states their strong connections with global terrorist organizations, including al-Qaeda.
